As I'm not capable of doing a nice and clean inlay, I had decided to put a laser-engraved aluminum plate on to the headstock instead.
Further thinking about this, I came up with the idea to also have the neck plate engraved, and to use an aluminum pickguard that could be engraved as well.
Moving along these thoughts, I then decided to try and make a curved aluminum truss rod cover as well.
I drew the shapes in Illustrator, partially based on measuring, partially based on a photograph I used as a "template", partially by trial and error, i.e. drawing, printing out on paper and holding it against the body or neck.
